Belt Buckle Past the Ball

Make half-speed swings checking that your belt buckle points left of the ball, not at it, by the time the club arrives.

How to do it

  1. Set up to a ball with a mid-iron.

  2. Make a half-speed swing, feeling your lead hip clear as the club nears the ball.

  3. Check that your belt buckle points left of the ball, not straight at it, when the club arrives.

  4. Repeat 10 times at half speed before hitting full shots.

Goal

Train the hips to be clearly open at impact instead of still facing the ball.

Feel cue

Feel your belt buckle pointing left of the ball as the club gets there.

Mistake to avoid

Don't spin the hips without shifting first — that swings the club off line.
