Headcover Exit Gate

Place a headcover about a foot past the ball on the target line and swing through without clipping it as the club exits.

How to do it

Place a headcover about a foot past the ball, on the target line.
Take your normal setup and swing through the ball.
Let the club continue past the ball without clipping the headcover.
Feel the clubhead climb up past your lead hip rather than staying low.
Hit 20 balls, resetting the headcover if it moves.

Goal

Train the club to exit up the target line instead of sharply left and low.

Feel cue

Feel the clubhead brush past your lead hip on its way up instead of snapping around your body.

Mistake to avoid

Steering the club around the headcover with your hands and arms only instead of letting your body keep rotating — a hand-steered miss just moves the low, left exit somewhere else instead of fixing it.
