Wall Back-Finish Check

Stand a few inches in front of a wall and make slow practice swings, finishing without your head or trail shoulder drifting back to touch the wall.

Duration

Equipment

Level
Beginner

How to do it

  1. Stand about six inches in front of a wall, turned sideways to it.

  2. Take slow, half-speed practice swings without a ball.

  3. Finish each swing with your weight on your lead foot and your chest facing the target.

  4. Check that your head and trail shoulder never drift back to touch the wall.

  5. Reset your posture and repeat for 8 reps.

Goal

Train the finish to stack over the lead foot instead of collapsing backward toward the trail side.

Feel cue

Feel your belt buckle push out toward the wall in front of you while your head stays quiet.

Mistake to avoid

Arching your lower back to avoid touching the wall instead of actually moving your hips forward — that arching motion is the exact back-strain risk this drill exists to remove, so slow down and let the hips do the work.
