Alignment Stick Path Checkpoint
Lay an alignment stick on the target line and check the clubhead's position relative to the hands at shaft-parallel.
- Duration
- 6 min
- Reps
- 3 sets of 10
- Equipment
- alignment stick
- Level
- Intermediate
How to do it
Lay an alignment stick on the ground just outside your ball, pointing at the target.
Take slow takeaways, keeping the clubhead tracking just above the line of the stick.
Pause at shaft-parallel and check the clubhead has neither ducked inside nor lifted outside the stick.
Repeat until the path holds without needing to look down.
Goal
Give a visual reference for a neutral takeaway path, whether the club has been running inside or outside it.
Feel cue
Feel the clubhead travel along the stick's line before it starts to work inside on its own.
Mistake to avoid
Looking down at the stick instead of trusting the feel once the checkpoint is learned.
