How to do it
Set up in front of a mirror positioned down the target line, or record on video.
Take the club back slowly to the point where the shaft is parallel to the ground.
Pause and check that the toe of the club points straight up, not toward the sky or the ground.
Adjust and repeat until the neutral position happens without a conscious check.
Goal
Groove a neutral clubface at shaft-parallel so it does not need to be rescued later in the swing.
Feel cue
Feel the toe of the club pointing straight up at shaft height, matching your spine tilt.
Mistake to avoid
Checking the face with your eyes only from face-on, where a shut or open face can look neutral.
