Lead-Foot-Only Swings

Take practice swings standing with almost all your weight already on your lead foot before you start.

Duration
5 min
Reps
15 swings
Equipment

Level
Beginner

How to do it

  1. Set up and shift almost all your weight onto your lead foot before you start.

  2. Keep only your trail toe lightly touching the ground for balance.

  3. Make a smooth practice swing from that position.

  4. Notice if your weight drifts back toward the trail foot as you swing.

  5. Repeat for 15 swings, resetting the weight forward each time.

Goal

Teach the body what a fully weighted, balanced finish feels like by starting from that position.

Feel cue

Feel grounded and heavy on your lead foot from the very first move of the swing.

Mistake to avoid

Letting your weight drift back toward the trail foot the moment you start the backswing — notice the drift and reset rather than swinging on through it.
