How to do it
Sit on the front edge of a sturdy, armless chair with feet flat on the floor.
Hold a club across your chest with both hands.
Rotate your upper body away from an imaginary ball as far as comfortable, then back.
Repeat ten times, then stand and take a few normal backswings noticing the same turning feeling.
Goal
Isolate the upper-body turn so the golfer can feel rotation without the trail leg being able to straighten at all.
Feel cue
Feel your chest and shoulders turn fully while your seated legs stay completely still.
Mistake to avoid
Leaning the upper body sideways instead of rotating it.
