How to do it
Hold an alignment stick horizontally across the front of your hip bones with both hands.
Take your golf posture and turn to your backswing position.
Start down by letting the stick slide sideways toward the target.
Only after that slide, let the stick rotate open.
Repeat for 3 sets of 10, watching the stick the whole time.
Goal
Make the direction of the hip move visible, so a spin and a shift stop feeling like the same thing.
Feel cue
Feel the end of the stick travel sideways toward the target before it swings around behind you.
Mistake to avoid
Rehearsing this so fast that the two moves blur together — go slowly enough that you can genuinely see the stick slide before it swings.
