Upside-Down Swish Tempo
Hold a club by the head and swing it, listening for where the swish happens relative to the ball.
- Duration
- 6 min
- Reps
- 3 sets of 10
- Equipment
- none
- Level
- Beginner
How to do it
Turn a mid iron upside down and grip it just below the clubhead.
Take your normal setup and make a full swing, listening carefully.
Notice whether the swish happens near the top or out past the ball.
Make the change of direction slower and unhurried until the swish moves forward.
Do 3 sets of 10, then hit a few real swings keeping the same unhurried feel.
Goal
Move the fastest part of the swing from the top down to the ball, where it belongs.
Feel cue
Feel the swing stay quiet and light past the top, then the swish arrive out in front of your lead foot.
Mistake to avoid
Trying to make the swish louder rather than later — volume is not the point, and a loud early swish is exactly the rushed transition you are trying to lose.
