Stick in the Grip Lag Drill

How to do it
Hold a short, soft alignment stick alongside the grip so it sticks up past your lead forearm.
Take your normal grip with the stick trapped against the handle.
Make half-speed swings into a ball or a patch of turf.
Keep the handle leading so the stick stays clear of your lead side through impact.
Do 3 sets of 8, stopping any time the stick makes contact and resetting slower.
Goal
Make an early release physically obvious by turning it into a poke in the ribs.
Feel cue
Feel the stick still pointing at your lead hip as the clubhead reaches the ball.
Mistake to avoid
Doing this at full speed — swing at half speed with a soft foam stick, because at speed a flip drives the end into your ribs hard enough to hurt.
