Chest-Turn-Only Backswing
Make backswings where your arms do nothing at all and the club only goes back as far as your chest turn carries it.
- Duration
- 5 min
- Reps
- 3 sets of 10
- Equipment
- none
- Level
- Beginner
How to do it
Take your normal setup and let your arms hang completely relaxed.
Turn your chest away from the target, letting your arms go along for the ride.
Stop the instant your chest stops turning, however short that is.
Notice how far the club actually travelled without any arm lift.
Repeat for 3 sets of 10, then add just enough arm swing to reach a normal top.
Goal
Prove how much backswing the body turn alone provides, so the arms stop lifting to make up an imagined shortfall.
Feel cue
Feel your arms hanging dead and passive while only your chest does the turning.
Mistake to avoid
Sneaking in a small arm lift at the end because the swing feels too short — the whole point is to find out where the body turn alone actually ends.
