Shoulder Line Club Check
Freeze at address, lay a club across the front of your shoulders, and step back to see where the shoulder line is actually pointing.

- Intermediate
How to do it
Take your normal address position and freeze.
Without moving your body, hold a second club across the front of both shoulders.
Look along the shaft to see where your shoulder line points.
Adjust from your shoulders until it runs parallel to your target line.
Reset and repeat the check 15 times.
Goal
Catch the shoulders being aimed somewhere different from the feet, which is where most alignment errors actually live.
Feel cue
Feel your trail shoulder sitting lower but not pulled back behind your lead one.
Mistake to avoid
Checking only your feet and assuming the shoulders follow — feet can be perfect while the shoulders are aimed thirty yards off, and it is the shoulders that set the path.
