How to do it

  1. Stand tall and lay a club on the ground pointing at your target.

  2. Set your feet so the insides of your heels are as far apart as your shoulders are wide.

  3. Take your normal address over the club without moving your feet.

  4. Step away, shake it out, and build the stance again from scratch.

  5. Repeat 15 times, checking the width every time.

Goal

Replace a guessed stance width with a measured one you can repeat anywhere.

Feel cue

Feel your heels sitting directly under the outside edges of your shoulders.

Mistake to avoid

Measuring to the outside of your shoes instead of the insides of your heels — that quietly adds four inches and turns a fix into a new problem.
