Three-Finger Pressure Check
Identify the three lead-hand fingers that should carry the club and make sure the pressure lives there and nowhere else.
- Duration
- 5 min
- Reps
- 10 grips
- Equipment
- none
- Level
- Intermediate
How to do it
Take your lead-hand grip with the handle across the base of your fingers.
Lift your thumb and index finger off the handle completely.
Hold the club out at waist height using only the last three fingers.
Replace the thumb and index finger lightly, without adding pressure.
Repeat for 10 grips, checking the pressure stays in the last three fingers.
Goal
Move the club out of the palms and onto the fingers by putting the holding pressure where it belongs.
Feel cue
Feel the last three fingers of your lead hand carrying the club and your palms doing almost nothing.
Mistake to avoid
Squeezing with the thumb and index finger to make the grip feel secure — that is exactly what drags the handle up into the palm.
