Toe Strike Face Tape
Spray or tape the clubface and hit shots, using where the marks land to tell you whether you are standing too far from the ball.
- Duration
- 10 min
- Reps
- 20 balls
- Equipment
- face tape
- Level
- Advanced
How to do it
Apply face tape or impact spray to the face of a mid iron.
Hit five shots from your normal distance and look at where the marks are.
If they are out toward the toe, step half an inch closer to the ball.
Hit five more and check the marks again.
Keep adjusting your distance over 20 balls until the marks sit in the center.
Goal
Turn strike location into hard evidence of how far away the golfer is standing.
Feel cue
Feel the ball coming off the middle of the face instead of out toward the toe.
Mistake to avoid
Changing your swing to chase a center strike instead of changing your distance from the ball — move your feet first and only then look at the swing.
