Towel Under Toes Balance

Stand with a rolled towel under the front of both shoes so your weight has to stay back through the arches and heels.

Duration
6 min
Reps
3 sets of 10
Equipment
towel
Level
Intermediate

How to do it

  1. Roll a towel into a tube about an inch thick.

  2. Stand so the towel sits under the front third of both shoes.

  3. Take your address position, keeping the towel uncompressed.

  4. Push your hips back rather than leaning back with your shoulders.

  5. Make 10 slow practice swings per set, 3 sets, staying off the towel.

Goal

Physically stop the golfer from loading the balls of their feet at address.

Feel cue

Feel your heels pressing down into the floor and your toes staying light on the towel.

Mistake to avoid

Leaning back at the shoulders to keep off the towel instead of pushing the hips back — leaning back changes your spine angle and swaps one setup fault for another.
