Trail Heel Finish Check
Swing to a finish and check whether your trail heel has come off the ground, which a stance that is too wide will prevent.
- Duration
- 6 min
- Reps
- 3 sets of 8
- Equipment
- none
- Level
- Intermediate
How to do it
Take your current stance and make a full practice swing.
Hold the finish and look down at your trail foot.
If the heel is still flat on the ground, narrow your stance by an inch on each side.
Swing again and repeat the check.
Complete 3 sets of 8 at the width that lets the heel release naturally.
Goal
Use the finish position as evidence of whether the stance width is allowing the body to rotate.
Feel cue
Feel your trail heel lift and your weight roll onto your lead foot as the swing completes.
Mistake to avoid
Lifting the heel on purpose at the end of the swing to pass the test — the heel should come up because the hips rotated, so if you have to help it, narrow the stance instead.
